possibility thinking

What could you do?

So here we are, onto step 3. Today we are going to look at POSSIBILITIES and PRIORITIES. This is where you look at the things that we might want to be, do and have in the coming year.

In doing this you may well be identifying things that align with the current roles in your life or things that require you to develop new roles.

For instance, if one of the things you come up with is to write a book and you haven’t done that before you would need to become an author and you would have to write.

To get you started you might want to consider areas such as

  • Health
  • Relationships
  • Career/Business
  • Personal development/learning
  • Travel & adventure

Add others as you see fit

Then consider what might you like to have or do in each of those areas?

Open up your imagination, let the ideas flow and write them down. At this point avoid filtering or judging the ideas.

Once you have generated your list of ideas, it is time to prioritise them and select those that you will work on first. A good guideline might be the top 10.

Consider what are the most important to developing you and your life as you want it. Other things to consider might be the time or resource you have to apply to achieve it and perhaps the overall impact that achieving it might have on your health, wealth and happiness.

Keep hold of the others, as a next up list, as you work towards and achieve the initial 10 you can go down your list and choose some more.

Once you have your top 10, you can then consider in more detail what might help you to get them done and what you might have to do, and have to become to make them happen.

For each you might ask

  • What could you do?
  • Who might be able to help?
  • How might you be able to enrol them to help you?
  • What resources might you need?
  • What might get in your way?
  • How might you avoid and/or overcome these?
  • How will I know that I have achieved it?

In considering these questions you are opening up your thinking and identifying key criteria for helping you achieve the outcome you desire

PS. I am considering setting up a programme to cover the topics in the series in more detail and with a supporting group for sharing, accountability and support. If you would be interested and want to know more then type “Yes please” in the comments
